Okey dokey. So this week I started classes again, which is good because I like learning and bad because professors have a nasty tendency to assign this stuff called "homework" that eats up my time and happiness in enormous chunks. But all in all, all is well.
Language and the Mind
Initial Reaction: "AWESOME! I LOVE PSYCHOLINGUISTICS! LANGUAGE IS SO COOL! THE HUMAN MIND IS AMAZING! WOOHOO!"
Verdict: I think I will like this class. I love the prof, I love the subject, the textbooks are interesting, there's only one paper.
Textbook timing: 20 pages in 25 minutes, reasonable.
Cantoria
Choir couldn't be better. I love choir. Same as last semester though, so nothing much to report at the moment.
Child Development
Initial Reaction: lots of giggling. The prof is a hoot, she tells lots of stories, and it's a course on child development. Perfect.
Verdict: I really like this one so far. The textbook cost an arm and a leg, but it's well written and quick to read.
Textbook timing: 30 pages in 30 minutes, reasonable.
Physics
Initial Reaction: "Oh good, his PhD is in science education, not physics, so he should be a good teacher and make the course a bit easier than I anticipated. He's also taught in a few countries, which is awesome."
Secondary Reaction: "WHAT?!?!? Your grading scale is '94-100=A?' That's ridiculous! None of us are physics majors, and you seriously expect that much of us? Maybe I should drop this class."
Tertiary Reaction: "Slow down, Kel, you're smart and good at science and math, it'll be a lot of work and a challenge, but you can do it."
Textbook timing: 60 pages in two hours. Slow going, but I was careful to absorb as I read. Should take longer to read when topics become more unfamiliar.
Quaternary Reaction: I found out that he has the grading scale so high because he (supposedly) gives easy tests and offers a huge amount of extra credit. Most people get A's. And his lecture was clear, slow, and super easy. Panic disappearing...
Verdict: It'll be a lot of work, but I have confidence that I'll over-achieve sufficiently well to scrape an A.
Logic
Initial Reaction: This is a 100-level logic class for my philosophy requirement, and I've already taken a significantly harder (math-based) logic class. The professor is fun and exudes intelligence, the work is pretty easy, and so far it's interesting.
Verdict: I should enjoy this, and I will definitely enjoy the relaxed nature of the class.
English Grammars (Yes, intentional plural.)
Initial Reaction: I might be a bit overqualified for this, since I have a good grammar background, but I'm looking forward to it nonetheless.
Textbook timing: 40 minutes for 23 pages. Slow going, because it (like any grammar textbook) is rather dry. Considering dunking it in some liquid. Or perhaps breaking up reading into lots of small chunks...
Verdict: I love grammar, and will love this class. Grammar is so much fun. (And keep your scoffing to yourselves, thank you!)
Ta-da! Those are my courses. So far so good. Lots of homework, some of which is a breeze and some of which is tough.

You got into Child Development! Yay!
I'd half kill to have your classes--I miss linguistics. I like CS and Calc, but physics worries me--I need to talk to my instructor and see if I need to have ALREADY taken Calc II...because I have not yet completed a semester of Calc II...and I'm not familiar with an argument she made, something she said was from calc...
I miss thee! Watch the mail! (If you haven't gotten a package already, I figure you should get it tomorrow or Friday!)
