Murder

I checked out a novel from the library: it's called Walden Two, and it's by the famous behavioral psychologist B.F. Skinner. From the one-line description I read before deciding to read it, it sounded like a utopia/dystopia novel, which I really enjoy.

So I checked it out from the library. Previous readers of this book have:
- underlined and circled things in pencil
- underlined and scribbled in the margins with black pen
- underlined with blue pen
- underlined with red pen
- used yellow highlighter (now mostly faded)
- used blue highlighter (now mostly faded)
- used yellow highlighter (more recent)
- used blue highlighter (more recent)
- used light pink highlighter
- used bright pink highlighter
- used sea green highlighter
- used apple green highlighter
- used neon green highlighter
- dog-eared pages all over the place

I hope someone was fined for murdering this book. From what I've read, I like it. It doesn't deserve this kind of abuse. I don't care what you do to your own books, but library books are not yours to graffiti, they're for other people's use too.
My strategy is to lightly mark margins with pencil if I absolutely need to-- but then I go back and erase everything I marked in the book.

SERIOUSLY, THANK YOU!! I just read "The Ugly American" and it was equally marked up. So sad. the only explanation I could come up with is that it was marked up and then donated to the library... *tears for the books that can't run away from abusers*
